Top 10 goodies.
So the question that should be asked is: Whats been up with me the past couple of months?
Well..here are some funnies and goodies that have happened.
1) Chicken all around. We had a chicken run into our house and one of my house mates started goofing around with it and put it on his shoulder. It was soo funny. I have a serious case of "third world internet" and the pictures not loading up. But take my word for it, ya wouldda laughed. Also, to add to my delight, there is a new restaurant near our house that serves the best chicken I have ever had (besides my mommas). Its heaven in my mouth! ahhh....soo good.
2) United Arab Emirates. I have been selected to be the human resources officer of AIESEC in UAE. Woot woot. Finally. I am doing it. I went to Dubai for one day two years ago and said to myself even though this is the most superficial city on Earth..I belong here. Its just a place I need to explore. So I am doing it. Living a dream of being a human resources officer in Africa and Asia. I have heard nothing but good things about my new team mates Stella and Emil so I am excited to start an adventure with them to make UAE bigga and betta!
3) Facebook. My god. I love it. I have been connecting with people that I have not seen in years. I have seen pictures of myself in the fifth grade with my pink lunch box, my uniform, and me eating chips! ahh man. Thank goodness for facebook. I love connecting to people. Those pictures are another reminder that I have always liked to eat.
4) Values. So I have figured out some things that make me happy. Balance (cause you need to have fun). Clarity (cause you need to know what you are doing and why). Responsibility (cause we can control our emotions and we have the responsibility to do so). Confidence (cause we are great people and we need to believe in ourselves). So ...now that I have it. I find myself a lot happier with things. You cant find happiness unless you know what you are looking for right?
5) Dreaming of being an international faciliator. AHHHH....I want to do this. Faciliate at an international conference. ahhh....my time will come but it must be done.
6) Diversity. We have had interns arriving from Tanzania, Kenya, Beligum, India, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, and soon to be Ghana! Our exchange department is doing an amazing job and we have been enjoying the benefits. Learning some Swahili, laughing with a funny Indian guy..speaking about Canadian politics all in Cameroon makes me love AIESEC even more.
7) Greatfulness. So I have finally found some peace. So Cameroon was a challenging experience but I think in order to be extraordinary in this life we gotta go through an experience that changes us. Not just one experience but many. Challenges us to be better and really stronger. Life is hard and I think that the only way to deal with it is to have hope in your heart and a smile on a face and letting your light shine and being the change you want...might as well. What is life if we are not constantly learning from it. While I have made a lot of mistakes, so many more personal successes have been made here...and I love this country for that.
8) Soccer. Football. My god. Its insane here. One picture will always stick with me is passing by my house and seeing people playing football. Beautiful Cameroonian men mind you but they are playing football. This sport is soo awsome and I am starting to learn more about it. I know bits and pieces about the English and French leagues but really want to learn more about how the game works.
9) Gino. My favorite drink in the world. Its pink. Its amazing. I love it. I will miss it so much when I leave. Honestly. I am planning to leave Cameroon in May as my visa expires which sucks but thats life. Oh Gino. Maybe when I get married to a rich Cameroonian footballer I will pay money to have this drink exported by Nestle...
10) Ghana. So..Ghanian independance 50 years was in March. My parents and the Ghanians in Oman organized a huge bash. 100 people came. Diplomats. Mommas and poppas dancing. My goodness. So proud to be ghanian. learning more about my country is a great experience...I am going to live there someday. I have even been in touch with one of my cousins which is a cool experience.
Alright thats it for now.
Life here is well...an experience. One that I will always be greatful for. I am becoming a better stronger person who will do extraordinary things thanks to AIESEC, family, friends, God, my talents, and some luck.
